Information Collection
At the time of registration, we will collect a user name and a password. You are solely responsible for safeguarding your username and password, and you hereby agree not to share or disclose your password to any third party.
 
The Website may allow, or disallow the submission, display, hosting, sharing, and/or publishing of the text, data, graphics, images, photos and video files and other content and information which Members stream, post, upload and otherwise submit to the Website, including, but not limited to business profiles, investor/research analysts profiles, conference partner profiles, business plans, and private placement memoranda.
 
While the Website has been designed in such a manner as to assist in the protection of your confidential data, the Website is primarily built with the intention of assisting you in establishing the business and financial connections that will help you achieve your goals, and we do not guarantee any confidentiality of such data.
 
 
Credit Card Numbers
Blue Ocean stores only the last four digits of its clients' credit card numbers on the Website (for Member verification and convenience). The required information is passed through quality secure encryption to the secure credit card processing system for payment, including recurring payment.
 
 
Information Use
 
Profile
We store information that we collect through Member registration information and other voluntary submissions, as well as cookies, log files, and clear gifs to create a composite profile of our Members. Profile information stored includes at a minimum the name, e-mail address, business type and preferences on receiving information by e-mail. Profile information is used to tailor a user's visit to our Website, and to direct pertinent information and marketing promotions to them.
 
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user's hard drive for an extended period of time. Log Files
Like most standard Website servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring: exit pages, platform type, date:time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track users' movements in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. Clear Gifs (Web Beacons: Web Bugs)
We may employ a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons: Web Bugs), that helps us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Website users. The main difference between the two is that clear gifs are invisible on the page and are much smaller, about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. Clear gifs in the e-mail synopsis page of the newsletter are tied to users' personally identifiable information, in that they pass a unique user ID back to the server to enable setting (or reading) a cookie.
 
In addition, we use clear gifs in our HTML-based e-mails to let us know which e-mails the recipients have opened. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.
